5 Tips on How I Take The Perfect Food Photo on Instagram

On Instagram, I take and edit all my photos clearly and accurately. If you are a follower of mine on Instagram you can see that in every photo I posted, there is a lot of effort to beautify it. One of my favorite photo subject is Food. Food photography is a still life photography genre used to create attractive still life photographs of food. It is a specialization of commercial photography, the products of which are used in advertisements, magazines, packaging, menus or cookbooks. Here are my 5 tips on how to achieve the Perfect IG Food Photo:

1. Shoot in Natural Light

Light is the key to create beautiful still life photos. Always shoot your food pictures in natural daylight rather than under artificial lighting. Color is very much important in photography because you wanted to emphasize how lively it is even in real life.

2. Use props and Human Elements

Choose props that can compliment the food like linens, utensils, bottles and even human element! Just like on the photo above, as you can see my friend is taking a closer food photo while it came to my mine that why not I shoot the food with her? And tadaaaa this photo turns out so good!

3. Shoot from the Best Angle

Choose a part of the food that looks yummy and set the focus of your phone or camera on it. Photography angles are extremely important on building a great composition. Angle of view determines how a scene can be framed and composed.

4. Use any photography tool that you have

There's no doubt that choosing your camera equipment comes with a price tag but to tell you honesty, all my photos and also my Youtube Videos are edited, captured and recorded by a Phone. Don't be afraid or pity for yourself for not having a DSLR or SLRs because even the smallest camera phone you have can make everything possible. You don't need to buy expensive gadgets to take great photos because you can consume or maximize the use of everything you have now.

Phone Suggestion: OPPO F5

5. Edit, edit, edit!!

Editing can make your photos clearer, better and more fancier! But please don't "over edit" your photos. What I mean on editing is that, you can enchance the clearness of the photo by "Sharpening", you can increase or decrease the "Exposure or Highlights" of the photo in whatever you like and Never forget that don't be afraid to experiment on editing photos. I only use VSCO (Filter: S3 - Clean Natural for Food Photography) and Snapseed as an editor on my photos.
