Best Korean Dramas of 2017


Happy 2018! This are my favorite Korean Dramas for 2017 and a video of my thoughts about it. This is not by order so I hope you like them all.


While you were Sleeping
Hong-Joo (Bae Suzy) lives with her mother and helps her run a pork restaurant. Hong-Joo is haunted by seeing the future deaths of others in her dreams. What's worse is that she does not know when the deaths will happen, but she tries to stop her dreams from becoming reality. One night, Hong-Joo dreams about the death of her own mother.
Meanwhile, Jae-Chan (Lee Jong-Suk) is a rookie prosecutor. He meets Yoo-Beom (Lee Sang-Yeob) at the prosecutors’ office. Yoo-Beom was Jae-Chan’s private tutor when Jae-Chan was a student, but an incident caused Jae-Chan to dislike him. Yoo-Beom was a prosecutor, but he now works as a lawyer. He takes on any case that brings him money.
Jae-Chan and his younger brother move to new house and they become neighbors with Hong-Joo. One night, Jae-Chan dreams that Yoo-Beom drives Hong-Joo's car and this leads to a chain of events including the death of Hong-Joo's mother and then Hong-Joo. When Jae-Chan senses that his dream is about to become real, he takes extreme action to stop it. Yoo-Beom becomes furious at Jae-Chan, but Hong-Joo hugs him and thanks him. Jae-Chan and Hong-Joo later work together to solve other cases.


Black
Black is a detective possessed by the Grim Reaper. Ha-Ram can see shadows of death. These two struggle to save the lives of people, breaking the rules of heaven.


Revolutionary Love
Byun Hyuk (Choi Si-Won) is a son from a wealthy family who runs a large company. He lives a happy life without any specific goals. He is confident around women and he is also naive, with a warm heart. Byun Hyuk begins to live in an studio in a poor area. He hides his background.
Baek Joon (Kang So-Ra) lives in the same area. She works part-time jobs to make ends meet. Baek Joon graduated from a good university, but she was unable to land a job at a company and begin taking part-time jobs. She is positive and full of justice, but her life changes when Byun Hyuk appears.


The Liar and his Lover
Kang Han-Kyeol (Lee Hyun-Woo) is a great composer and gets inspired by the voice of others. He hides his identity from other people. Kang Han-Kyeol meets Yoon So-Rim. She is a female high school student with a great voice and she falls in love with him.


Suspicious Partner
Bong-Hee (Nam Ji-Hyun) is a judicial apprentice at the Judicial Research and Training Institute. One day, on the subway, she mistakes Ji-Wook (Ji Chang-Wook) for a molester. Ji-Wook is a prosecutor and denies being a molester, but Bong-Hee doesn't believe him. Later, she catches her boyfriend Hee-Joon (Chansung) in a hotel lobby with another woman. Her boyfriend is also a judicial apprentice at the same institute. Bong-Hee is hurt by her boyfriend's apparent infidelity and tells him that she will sleep with the next man she bumps into.
Bong-Hee indeeds propositions the next man she bumps into. When she looks at the man, Bong-Hee realizes the man is the same man she saw on the subway ... Ji-Wook. They decide to have drinks and Bong-Hee later passes out. When she wakes up, Bong-Hee finds herself at Ji-Wook's place.
3 months later, Bong-Hee is assigned to work in Ji-Wook’s office. She works hard there. During this time, she runs into Hee-Joon and tells him to take his things from her apartment. Later that night, Bong-Hee goes to a nearby convenience store and when she returns to her apartment, she finds Hee-Joon stabbed to death. Bong-Hee is arrested for his murder and Ji-Wook becomes the prosecutor in her murder case. Even through heavy pressure from Hee-Joon's father (who is the chief of the district prosecutor's office), Ji-Wook finds evidences to proves Bong-Hee's innocence and sets her free. Due to this incident, Ji-Wook quits his job as a prosecutor and becomes a lawyer. Bong-Hee attempts to find the person who murdered her ex-boyfriend.
2 years later, Bong-Hee and Ji-Wook meet again, but on opposing sides. Bong-Hee is representing the plaintiff and Ji-Wook is representing the defendant in a court case.


Defendant
Park Jung-Woo is a prosecutor at Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office. One day, he wakes up and finds himself in locked up at the police station. He has temporary amnesia. Park Jung-Woo is falsely accused and is sentenced to death. He must struggle to prove his innocence.


Goblin
In ancient times, Kim Shin (Gong Yoo) is an unbeatable general in wars, but the young King (Kim Min-Jae) is jealous of Kim Shin and kills him. Kim Shin becomes Dokkaebi (Goblin), possessing an immortal life. At first he thinks that he is blessed, but he realizes that he is cursed.
Closer to the present day, Kim Shin has waited 900 years for a human bride to end his immortal life. One night, he saves a dying pregnant woman (Park Hee-Von) who is destined to die. Meanwhile, the Grim Reaper (Lee Dong-Wook) is unable to find the dead pregnant woman. The woman gives birth to a baby girl named Ji Eun-Tak (later played by Kim Go-Eun). 9 years later, Ji Eun-Tak lives with her mother and is able to see ghosts. One night, her mother suddenly dies. On that night, she meets the Grim Reaper.
In the present day, Ji Eun-Tak is a high school student. She still sees ghosts and hears their whisper of “Dokkaebi’s bride.” She now lives with her aunt’s family, but she is mistreated by them. On her birthday, Ji Eun-Tak sits by the sea with a lighted birthday cake. At that time, Kim Shin suddenly appears in front of her. Kim Shin does not know why, but he can hear her voice and appears in front of her against his will. Coincidentally, Kim Shin lives with the Grim Reaper at the same house.
Now, Kim Shin appears in front of her against his will, whenever she turns off the lights. One day, Ji Eun-Tak tells him that he is Dokkaebi and she is his bride.


Fight for my Way
Drama tells the story of Ko Dong-Man and Choi Ae-Ra.
In their school days, Ko Dong-Man took part in taekwondo. Now, he makes a living by working as a contract employee and also goes after the UFC title.
Choi Ae-Ra hoped to become an announcer, but she gave up her dream. Now, she works at the information desk of a department store.



School 2017
Ra Eun Ho is a cheerful student who has kept her place as rank six out of 280 students at her high school. She has a talent for drawing webtoons and dreams of dating the college boy she has a crush on. One day, while trying to find inspiration for her comics, she somehow is caught in the wrong place at the wrong time and gets marked as a delinquent student. This is only the start of her troubles.

Strong Woman Do Bong Soon
Bong-Soon (Park Bo-Young) was born with superhuman like strength. Her strength is hereditary and passed along only to the women in her family. Her dream is to create a video game with herself as the main character. One day, Bong-Soon helps out a bus driver who is being attacked by a thug. Soon, a small mob of thugs attack Bong-Soon, but she is easily able to wipe the floor with them. During this time, Min-Hyuk (Park Hyung-Sik) drives up to the scene of Bong-Soon beating up the group of thugs. Min-Hyuk is the CEO of video gaming company Ainsoft. He has recently received anonymous threats and even followed by an unknown person. Min-Hyuk believes Bong-Soon would make a great bodyguard with her amazing strength. Besides offering Bong-Soon high pay, he even offers her the chance of working in the planning department of his gaming company if she does well.
Meanwhile, crimes against women take place in the neighborhood where Bong-Soon lives. Detective Kook-Doo (Ji Soo) also lives in the same neighborhood. They have been friends since they were kids. Bong-Soon is also madly in love with him, but he has a girlfriend. Kook-Doo tries to solve the case and Bong-Soon and Min-Hyuk are pulled in.

My Secret Romance
Cha Jin-Wook (Sung Hoon) is a son from a wealthy family. His family runs a large company. Cha Jin-Wook only pursues short term love. He meets Lee Yoo-Mi (Song Ji-Eun) and changes. Lee Yoo-Mi has never had a boyfriend before.


The Best Hit
In 1993, Hyun-Jae (Yoon Si-Yoon) is a member of popular idol group Jay-2. He is well regarded for his voice, dancing skills and fashion. Gwang-Jae (Cha Tae-Hyun) is Hyun-Jae’s manager and popular singer Bo-Hee (Yoon Son-Ha) is his girlfriend. One day, Hyun-Jae suddenly disappears. One moth later, his car is found by a lake and he is presumed dead.
In 2017, Gwang-Jae now runs a small entertainment company. His son is Ji-Hoon (Kim Min-Jae), but Ji-Hoon isn't his biological son. Ji-Hoon's real parents are Bo-Hee and Hyun-Jae. After Hyun-Jae disappeared in 1993, Bo-Hee learned that she was pregnant. Gwang-Jae had feelings for Bo-Hee and decided to list Ji-Hoon on his family register. Now, Ji-Hoon is 23-years-old. Gwang-Jae wants him to work in the civil service field, but Ji-Hoon wants to become an idol. Ji-Hoon pretends to study for his civil service exam, but he actually spends his time as a trainee for top entertainment company Star Punch. Meanwhile, Woo-Seung (Lee Se-Young) is Ji-Hoon’s friend and she has studied to become a civil servant for the past 3 years. She wants a stable life, being affected by her mother who went through several divorces.
Back in 1993 and on the day Hyun-Jae disappears, a typhoon hits South Korea. Hyun-Jae accidentally slides down the stairs of a building where his management office is located and his momentum takes him all the way out of the building. He is almost hit by a car. The car is driven by Ji-Hoon, Woo-Seung and MC Drill (Dong Hyun-Bae). Hyun-Jae has somehow arrived in the year 2017.


My Shy Boss/ Introverted Boss
Eun Hwan-Ki (Yeon Woo-Jin) is the CEO of a public relations company, but he is extremely shy. Due to his personality, even his employees do not know him well.
Chae Ro-Woon (Park Hye-Soo) begins work at Eun Hwan-Ki’s company. She is very energetic and receives recognition for her work, but her only interest is in CEO Eun Hwan-Ki. She plans to reveal who Eun Hwan-Ki really is.
